The Women Rep said that she was gravely saddened by the situation at the hospital after several cases of outbreak of diarrhea and Hepatitis B was reported at the facility.
“I can’t believe what I’m seeing. The hospital is a sad story and I’m calling on the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Ms Cecily Kariuki, to ensure the government takes over the hospital temporarily and manage it before people start dying,” she said.
Ms Ngirici said the entire health sector in the county has collapsed and the country is reeling from an outbreak of deadly diseases following the collapse of all infrastructures in the hospital.
Accompanied by dozens of members of public Ms Ngirici threatened to mobilize residents to take to the streets in protest if something urgent is not done.
“I feel like crying when I see how patients, particularly mothers and children, are suffering. They have been abandoned and there is no one to take care of them,” she said.
She donated sanitary towels and sandals to women in the maternity ward and assured them that she would not keep quiet over the matter.
