The Nakuru county government has started the construction of a state-of-the-art Sh157 million Njoro Sub-County Referral Hospital, as it seeks to improve health provision among its residents.
County Health Executive Zachary Gichuki Kariuki noted that with the growing population in the county, there was a need to reduce congestion at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital.
He said the facility will be operational within the next 40 weeks. He observed that upon completion, the facility will have an outpatient department, Xrays machines, an emergency unit, theaters, maternity and wards, a pharmacy, and modern laboratories.
Speaking during the site handover yesterday, Gichuki said the facility will also offer the highest standard of medical training and highest quality of specialised healthcare services.
“The County administration is keen on decongesting the Nakuru Level Five Teaching and Referral Hospital by modernizing all Sub-county hospitals,” he said.
