Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache on Tuesday launched Covid-19 vaccination exercise in Kisii County.

The PS accompanied by Governor James Ongwae said the vaccine is safe, adding that health workers, teachers, police officers and people living with HIV/ Aids, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, Tuberculosis and the rest will be vaccinated.

While commissioning the vaccine at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, the PS said children aged below 18 years and pregnant women will not be vaccinated, stressing the government expects three million doses in May to vaccinate more Kenyans.

“The vaccine is safe. Those who were vaccinated on Friday are safe. It has passed very high stringent global standards,” Mochache said at the hospital, adding 16 counties had received the vaccine.
