National Health Insurance fund (NHIF) has suspended healthcare providers implicated in insurance fraud for 90 days, pending further investigations following the NTV exposé on facilities using fraudulent ways to claim insurance payments.
Further, in line with the Human Resource Procedure Manual, the Board has decided to interdict five staff members with immediate effect to pave way for investigations.
According to the press statement sent to newsrooms, NHIF has suspended Afya Bora Hospital, Afya Bora Hospital Annex, Jekim Hospital Nkubu Ltd, Jekim Medical Centre, Joy Nursing & Maternity Eastleigh and St. Peter’s Orthopedics and Surgical Specialty Centre Ltd.
“NHIF already notified all members receiving outpatient services at the listed facilities to select alternative healthcare providers from the list of NHIF contracted facilities,” the statement reads in part.
The statement further says that the board has also suspended the contracts of two healthcare providers Amal Hospital Limited and Beirut Pharmacy and Medical Centre.
NHIF pledged its commitment to continuously review healthcare providers’ performance to ensure quality delivery of services to all its beneficiaries.
