Kenya flagged off the second batch of nurses to the United Kingdom as part of a bilateral agreement on health partnership between the two countries.
Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha and the UK Development Director Leigh Stubblefield on Monday flagged off 76 nurses who are set to be placed in various hospitals across Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
“The move will benefit Kenya beyond skill exchange, the agreement fosters cross-cultural understanding and strengthens ties between the two nations,” The CS said.
Nakhumicha stated the Bilateral Labor Agreement between Kenya and the United Kingdom showcases the strength of international collaboration and partnerships.
The health workers were selected from over 700 applicants and will leave the country in two batches with the fisrt batch set to leave on August 24.
The nurses will be absorbed into the National Health Service, the publicly funded British healthcare system.
The first batch of 19 nurses left for the UK in 2022.
