The Pharmacy and Poisons Board inaugurated its nine Technical Expert and Advisory Committee members marking a significant step towards ensuring the safety and quality of medicines.
Speaking during the inauguration event, attended by PPB Chairman Dr. Charles Githinji, Board Members, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. F. Siyoi, the committees Board Chairman Dr Githinji urged the committee to uphold professional standards and adhere to confidentiality.
“The information and discussions shared within these committees are often sensitivity and significant. It is the responsibility of each member to safeguard this information and refrain from disclosing it to unauthorized individuals or entities,” Dr Githinji said.
He urged the technical committee members to adhere to the Manual for Technical & Expert Advisory Committees, which outlines the Code of Conduct, principles and values governing their actions.
“This occasion signifies a significant milestone in our journey towards ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of medicines for our citizens and ensuring our pharmacy professionals are competent and fit to practice,” Dr Githinji said.
Je urged each committee member to remain vigilant in disclosing any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in the course of their duties saying, the integrity of their decisions and recommendations relies on their ability to identify and address such conflicts. Adding that “By doing so, the committee will maintain the trust and confidence of the public in PPB regulatory processes.”
“As we embark on this journey together, upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethics is imperative. Therefore, I emphasize the importance of adhering to the Manual for Technical and Expert Advisory Committees, which outlines the Code of Conduct, principles and values governing our actions,” Dr Githinji said.
Dr. Githinji emphasized the importance of upholding good regulatory practices and adhering to service timelines outlined in the PPB’s service charter.
