Kenya is hosting the 2024 CQUIN multi-country conference this week. The ministry of Health in collaboration with ICAP at Columbia University Coverage, Quality and Impact Network (CQUIN) is hosting the 4-day conference on integrating non-HIV Services into HIV Programs themed ‘Delivering Person-Centred Care for People Living with HIV’ in Nairobi.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Health-Kenya during the opening ceremony, Dr. Rose Wafula, the Head of Division of National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP), highlighted that while People Living with HIV can now live longer due to wide coverage of HIV care and treatment programs, there are key emergent issues that programs must be prepared to address integration, including non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and sexual reproductive health (SRH) services.
Dr. Rose further emphasized the need for collaboration for integration in HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), Mother and Child Health (MCH) and NCD service delivery. “In order for integration to truly work, all stakeholders led by the Government must work together to break the ‘silos’ of programming and increase investments in primary care networks while leveraging on the Ministry of Health Universal Health Coverage agenda.”
The conference has brought together over 260 participants from 21 Countries drawn from the Ministries of Health departments (HIV, MCH/SRH and NCD departments), PEPFAR agencies, development and implementing partners, national networks of people living with HIV.
It will provide ground to share best practices and innovative approaches for integrated service delivery; a significant step forward in Kenya’s efforts to combat HIV/AIDS and ensure the well-being of its citizens, while also contributing to global efforts to control the HIV epidermic.
