Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) -Kenya’s national drug regulatory Authority- has lifted the quarantine order for Mefnac Oral suspension (mefnac Acid 50 mg/5ml) manufactured by Efroze Chemical Industries Pvt Ltd, Pakistan, issued on 11th December.
According to Fred Siyoi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), PPB, the decision follows thorough investigation and quality control assessments for Diethylene Glycol (DEG) Ethylene Glycol (EG) levels, which the results confirms that the product meets all applicable specifications and is safe for distribution and use.
“The borad remains committed to ensuring safety and efficacy of medicines in the market to protect public health,” Dr Siyoi said adding that, “We urge members of the public to report any suspected case of substandard medicines or adverse drug reactions to the nearest healthcare facility or PPB.”
