Bupa Global has launched its first ever regional office in Nairobi Kenya, this move sees the international Insurance Company expand its market reach into Africa, a strategic move given Kenya’s Economic placement.

“Kenya is a crucial market for us and a gateway to the incredible opportunities we see across Africa. With a local office and continued investments in digital capabilities, we’re creating an ecosystem that makes world-class healthcare more accessible across the region.”
This opening is coming on the heels of Bupa Global receiving regulatory approval from Kenya’s Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA). This initiative is part of the company’s broader £55 million investment in digital innovation and local partnerships across the globe.
Kenya, recognized as East Africa’s economic powerhouse, has been earmarked as a key growth market in Bupa’s long-term IPMI strategy. Leveraging Kenya’s economy will enable the company tap into the healthcare market in the country and continent, beyond the economy Kenya’s commitment to Universal Healthcare provides the company with an ideal environment to grow as the demand for equitable healthcare rises.
According to Cabrelli, Bupa Global is committed to serve the country’s economy by hiring locally.
“The new office will employ a local team and non-executive directors, ensuring that Bupa Global is attuned to the needs of its brokers, customers and the Kenyan market.”
The CEO and Principal officer of the new branch Uditha Jayaratne added, “Opening our Nairobi office shows how committed we are to success in the region. With a local team on the ground and strong partnerships with local providers and intermediaries, we can offer care that really meets people’s needs.”
Beyond expanding access to world-class healthcare, Bupa Global also plans to embed itself in the local community through a strong focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As part of its initial CSR initiatives, the company will be co-sponsoring initiatives such as boreholes for clean drinking water and medical camps providing urgent care in the Masai Mara.
