The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) today solidified a crucial partnership by signing a Service Level Agreement (SLA), a significant step towards bolstering trade facilitation and regulatory efficiency within Kenya.
The landmark agreement, signed by Dr. F. M. Siyoi, Chief Executive Officer of the PPB, and witnessed by Ms. Winfred Kinyua, Assistant Manager, Customs and Border Control, leading the KRA delegation, is the culmination of a two-year collaborative effort involving 24 Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).
This new SLA is designed to streamline sea cargo clearance processes, enhance transparency, and foster coordinated service delivery at the nation’s ports. It directly aligns with Kenya’s National Trade Facilitation Agenda and the principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement.
The agreement meticulously outlines clear roles, specific timelines, and joint operational processes for the involved agencies, with a primary focus on improving accountability and optimizing operational efficiency at all ports of entry.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Siyoi lauded the agreement, emphasizing that this strategic partnership will significantly strengthen the PPB’s mandate to ensure that only quality, safe, and efficacious health products and technologies are allowed into the country.
