The Cancer Survivors Association of Kenya (CSA-K) wants the government to declare cancer a national disaster.
If declared a national disaster, there would be increased funding towards the disease which boost the fight against the illness.
CSA-K also wants government to well-equip at least one public hospital with the latest cancer treatment equipment.
“The government should fully equip at least one public health facility in the country with modern cancer diagnosis and treatment equipment to enable easy and highly improved cancer diagnosis, treatment and care for all Kenyans,” Said Wanjiru Githaka, the chairperson CSA-K.
The group also wants the government to abolish the lengthy procedures one has to go through before he is allowed to seek treatment outside the country.
CSA-K also wants the government to increase the number of oncologists in the country.
