PPB raises red flag over fake drugs
Share This:

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has raised a red flag on possibility of counterfeiting of drugs that are key to the implementation of the Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC).

The drugs the board is targeting include antimicrobials, medicines for treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and, child and maternal drugs.

A statement from the board also shows that quality surveys being conducted in 20 counties in the country also target medical devices.

“As a board we are conducting quality survey of selected health products and Technologies in 20 counties across the country with an objective of assessing quality and safety of essential medicines and vaccines that are core in the implementation of UHC,” said Dr Karim Wanga, the board’s acting head of Post Market Surveillance (PMS).
